PHAT HEADZ

FOLDING STEREO HEADPHONES

OBJECTIVE

This was an assignment done for a package design course. We were to choose any existing headphone packaging that we believed was in need of a revamp. I chose a cheap, $5 brand called "Fat Heads". The box was a generic folding carton with an aqua blue color all over. It honestly was not that bad for a cheap pair of headphones, the item itself appeared more expensive than it was. With this I decided to try and give the brand a more "high quality" feel. I began by changing the name from "fat" to "phat" (another word for excellent). I felt like giving the brand a cool, retro vibe would make sense with the name. As for the overall design, I found that a lot of the higher end headphones would be in rigid boxes as opposed to folding cartons or plastic molds.
